The climate is moderate. It is never too hot or too windy all due to the advantageous position of the city. The average temperature in this area is less than 16 degrees centigrade and the maximum temperature constitutes 36 degrees centigrade. It might be a bit chilly during January. Tourists should pay special attention to the rains in this area as it rains almost all year round and especially in June and September. Alas there is one drawback of the geographical position, as the city is located close to the ocean it becomes vulnerable to a great number of natural disasters.
The population of Nagoya is more than 2 million people. The city is very beautiful with quite a lot of sightseeing and interesting architecture of buildings. One of peculiarities is the location of the streets in this city, quite astonishing but a fact is that they are in staggered rows from North to South and from East to West. It is noteworthy that Nagoya was the first city where underground hypermarket was built. Nowadays hundreds of magazines fill streets around the Nagoya station. It is the only big commercial center of this region and also a big economic center of Japan giving place to Tokyo and Osaka.
Nagoya is a city with highly developed industry so it is only natural that hundreds of different companies from all over the world have their offices located there. But there are also companies which were founded, developed and made all their way up to the world market right from this city. One of the brightest examples of successful company is Toyota Motors Corporation the headquarters of which are located in Nagoya.
Among the sightseeing of Nagoya at least two should be definitely visited, they are the Nagoya castle and Atsuta Shrine. The Castle was built in 1612 by one of the Tokugawa family branches. It proved to be a good fortress and grew up to become a prosperous city. The castle was severely damaged during the World War 2 and had to be reconstructed. It was restored in 1959. The castle is fabulous. One should definitely see it. The architecture and design of the building is outstanding. It is also famous for the two Golden Orcas on the roof, which are often considered to be the symbol of Nagoya. The other worth sightseeing is Atsuta Shrine, which is considered to be the second vulnerable shrine there. It is said to house the Kusanagi sword. Kusanagi sword is another dear thing to Japan as it belongs to the three Imperial regalia, that is why no one but the Emperor itself saw the sword.
There is also a really great place to have rest during a tough day named Noritake Garden. Hundreds of people every day come here from different parts of the city. It comprises three different zones and is justly considered to be a real masterpiece of modern architecture and landscape planning.
